I bought my first Maclaren Volo as a baby shower present for my sister 4 years ago when she had her first baby. I purchased it as a fluke from a discount store for only 49.00. At the time I knew nothing about babies and strollers. All I knew was that it was unique design and for a good price. I also noticed how sturdy it looked and how functional its lightweight frame and mesh seat were in comparison to other umbrella strollers on the market. From that time on my sister was hooked on the Maclaren brand after she found it to be highly maneuverable, lightweight and sturdy in comparison to other umbrella strollers on the market. Four years later and having served three babies in my sister's family that same Maclaren is still in perfect condition having endured numerous vacations all over the country and on trips around the world. It is still in use for even her 4 year old to this very day. It is needless to say that all the strollers she owns are made by Maclaren.
When it came time to have my own baby, I knew what stroller to get. I have purchased my own for a lot more than the $49.00 I paid 4 years ago but my new generation Volo is still worth every penny. You cannot even compare its lightweight and construction quality to the other umbrella strollers on the market. Every detail on this stroller has been well thought out by the manufacturer and withstands the test of time.

Huge Shade Canopy for An Umbrella Stroller
|

| I purchased the Coffee color, which had cuter colors. Anyways, this stroller rocks due to the extremely large shade canopy. Even my Silver Cross Mini umbrella stroller does not have a shade canopy this large. Great Maclaren quality and durability; however, the canopy gets dirty from the wheels when it is folded up. To combat the dirty canopy I just place a plastic grocery sack over the front wheels after I fold it up. I LOVE the fact that this is one hand operational, which is a must when you are holding a baby and trying to keep an eye on your toddler at the same time. My husband, who is 6'2", likes the fact that he does not have to hunch over in order to push the stroller. |
Love this stroller!

I bought this stroller to use as a durable umbrella stroller for traveling with my then 1 year old but it's really in a class above. I have the Turkish Stripe model which has primary colored stripes. It's attractive, super lightweight, portable, collapsible and one-hand operable. I took my son on a kiddie train ride the other day and managed to hold his hand, collapse the stroller and sling it over my shoulder and walk on the train. Pretty empowering stuff. It has a sun shade which works well if your child is older/taller (about 18 months +). The net basket is handy. I can stuff a lightweight rain jacket and bag in it. I've taken it to the zoo, parks, etc and have had no mechanical problems so far.
One thing that bugs is that the wheels fold into the sun shade so the shade gets dirty pretty quick. Also, this is not a great stroller for infants. Doesn't recline, no drink holder, etc.
Word of caution: I've had trouble with a Triumph (sun shade warped in the back of my Subaru). So if you have a SUV/wagon use a cargo cover with the Volo.
Overall, it's an amazing little marvel of modern stroller engineering. |
A truly LIGHWEIGHT stroller. Highly recommended!

| We bought this stroller after buying the Evenflo Journey Elite, which was advertised as being "lightweight" but was actually HEAVY and BIG. The Maclaren Volo is truly LIGHT, compact, and very easy to fold and unfold. The 5-point harness makes me feel like baby is safe, and with a higher weight limit than most umbrella strollers it's perfect for our 10 month old who already weighs 25 lbs! The only downside is that it doesn't recline, but our little guy won't really nap in a stroller anymore anyway so it's no big deal. Also I'm 5'8" (without shoes) and this is the most comfy umbrella stroller I've found for taller folks. Highly recommended! |
Great for kids 3 - 5years old

| Bought this for my 3 and 5 year old kids when we go on trips. We have the Graco stroller, it was good for when they were babies but Graco is too bulky/heavy. This is one of the lightest strollers you can get. Its sturdy enough to comfortably push a 40lb kid. (Weight limit is 55lb for this stroller). Its exactly what I wanted...a very sturdy, light umbrella stroller that can carry a big kid. Its more expensive than the $20 -30 umbrella strollers but its really light weight (about 8lb) and more importantly the weight limit of 55lb. Most umbrella strollers are made for kids less than 30lb....so keep that in mind. Great for getting on the airplane or on the subway or bus because it easily folds up quickly and has a strap to carry it like a back-pack. MOST strollers DO NOT have a strap to carry it on your back.....this is VERY USEFUL if you are traveling alone with kids with other bags to carry. SUMMARY: BEST FEATURES this stroller has that is lacking in other strollers: LIGHT WEIGHT (at about 8lb its lighter than the other strollers that claim to be light weight), STRAP to carry it on your back, weight limit 55lb, VERY STURDY...so its easy to push. |
